crystal free microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion
is a process which removes dead skin cells from the epidermis (the outermost
layer of the skin), cleaning out blocked pores and enhancing skin tone.
The process increases sluggish skin cell turnover, producing fresh,
glowing skin.
The microdermabrasion
technique can be traced back to the ancient Egyptians who used alabaster
or pumice to remove blemishes and rough spots and to make the skin smooth
and well toned.
Microdermabrasion
can be used to improve or eliminate many skin conditions and imperfections,
including active acne, scars (surgical or acne), hyperpigmentation,
fine lines and wrinkles, congested skin, and extraction of blackheads
and whiteheads.
Microdermabrasion
has other benefits which include more effective penetration of active
topical agents, such as vitamins A & C, moisturisers and sunblocks.
Initially
4-10 treatments will rejuvenate the skin. Treatments are usually conducted
every 2-3 weeks, although weekly sessions may be advised in some cases.
A monthly maintenance and the application of an appropriate skin care
program will sustain the desired results.
In the
instance of severe acne and acne scars further treatments may be required.
It is also recommended that in such cases, crystal free microdermabrasion
be combined with other medical therapies and skin care programs. This
combination will ensure more progressive and rapid results.
-
the microdermabrasion process
In the
mid 90's, the crystal microdermabrasion process using aluminum oxide
crystal was developed in Italy, where crystals were used to "sand-blast"
off the top layer of the epidermis. Although the crystal method is still
used all over the world, the new crystal free innovation has significant
advantages over the older method.
Crystal free microdermabrasion does not have the risk of:
·
Crystals being imbedded in the skin and suspended in the air of
the treatment room.
· Crystal residue being left in the hair and the clothes
of both the patient and operator
· Unnecessary downtime and some discomfort due to the
crystals impacting on the skin.
The exfoliation of crystal free microdermabrasion is achieved by the
application of natural diamond tips and vacuum pressure upon the skin's
surface. The microdermabrasion handpiece is moved in a gentle gliding
technique over the skin, emptying blocked pores, removing the dead and
damaged skin cells while stimulating the collagen beneath the surface,
creating better skin tone. After the treatment the skin has a red healthy
glow due to the increased circulation to the skin. This increased circulation
brings with it oxygen and nutrients to refresh and regenerate the skin.
